About the Role
We're looking for a proactive Junior IT Specialist to join our Tokyo office in an in-office role. You'll be the backbone of our office IT operations, supporting our global team across multiple locations. You'll ensure our teams stay connected and productive while driving automation initiatives that scale with our growth. This role combines hands-on technical support with strategic process improvement, making it perfect for someone who loves solving problems and building efficient systems.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day IT Operations
- Provide technical support to our global team across multiple offices and remote locations
- Travel to and support IT infrastructure at our offices in Asia and Europe as needed
- Manage and maintain office IT infrastructure including workstations, networking equipment, and cloud services
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues with a focus on minimizing downtime
- Administer user accounts and access permissions across various platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, AWS, etc.)
- Ensure security best practices are followed across all systems and devices
Automation & Process Improvement
- Design and implement automated workflows for employee onboarding and offboarding
- Create self-service tools and documentation to reduce repetitive support requests
- Develop scripts and automation solutions to streamline IT processes
- Build and maintain IT asset management systems
- Collaborate with the SRE team to align office IT with our DevOps best practices
Documentation & Communication
- Create and maintain comprehensive IT documentation in line with our remote-first culture
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical team members
- Participate in async communication channels and keep stakeholders informed
- Develop IT policies and procedures that support our flexible work environment
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of macOS and Windows environments
- Experience with Google Workspace administration
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Conversational Japanese language skills (helpful for communicating with local teams)
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation tools (Zapier, Make, or similar)
- Knowledge of identity management systems (Okta, OneLogin, etc.)
- Familiarity with MDM solutions for device management
- Understanding of network administration and security
